PRESIDENT BUHARI DIRECTS NFF TO AMEND RULES ON CONGRESS ELECTION
President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to amend its statutes to accommodate genuine stakeholders who had been disenfranchised or denied equal representation in the NFF congress.
The President, however, charged the federation to put in place the process that will lead to organising a new election into its Executive Committee at the expiration of the current administration in September.
These directives were contained in a letter dated June 17, 2022, signed by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare and addressed to the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick.
The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to football development while tasking the leadership of the football house to ensure that the amended statutes reflect the national yearning, aspiration, and peculiarities of the country while aligning with the principles and objectives of football as stipulated by the world football governing body, FIFA.
The letter, however, charged the NFF to ensure its immediate compliance with the Presidential directives by providing timely updates to the ministry.
