EPL: Favourite manager for Chelsea job revealed after defeat to Real Madrid
Chelsea’s hierarchy prefer Julian Nagelsmann over Luis Enrique to be their next permanent manager.
Former midfielder and club’s all time goalscorer Frank Lampard is currently occupying the space on an interim basis and is expected to walk away at the end of the season.
The Blues’ search for a permanent manager has intensified following a run of bad results under Lampard which include their exit from the Champions League after a 4-0 (aggregate) defeat to Real Madrid.
The club’s hierarchy has reportedly spoken to both Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique, while former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is also on the club’s shortlist of managers being considered for the job.
But Sky Germany reports that Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart met with Nagelsmann in London last Thursday where Nagglesmann, who was recently sacked by Bayern Munich, presented his ideas.
The report claims that Chelsea have Nagelsmann ahead of Luis Enrique at this point.
Recall that it was reported that Luis Enrique was ‘disappointed’ by Chelsea’s decision to appoint Lampard until the end of the season after he met the club’s recruitment team.
